Owner's Manual

People who engage in activities and hobbies —whether it be fly-fishing, cabinet-making, cooking— subscribe to magazines on their subject, watch TV programs devoted to it, buy books and DVDs that give them hints and tricks, and do research online to become better and more proficient.

So why do so many who go to the gym or workout at home NOT do these things? People perform exercises at the gym without knowing what they are even for. Their form is terrible, and it doesn't even occur to them to observe someone at the gym who is doing the same exercise correctly and displays the physical proof that they know what they are doing. They don't subscribe to fitness magazines, or buy books or DVDs. They dutifully come to the gym week after week and just spin their wheels in place, so to speak, when they could be making amazing progress.

If you are going to devote time to your workout, begin online and research exercise videos to see how others are performing the same exercises you are, and compare. Start there, resolvong to re-learn the exercise in order to get the most out of it. When done correctly, you should see results in mere weeeks. And once you taste success, you will be hungry for more.
