Why Do People Favor Magical Thinking Over Logic and Fact?
Video from ABC Australia: What's Really Inside Your Supplements?
Supplements are not Substitutes. There is no Magic Pill.
The majority of people who supplement treat supplements as a primary factor in their nutritional choices. Those who habitually follow a nutrient-deficient diet, such as those who primarily exist on fast food or snack foods or sweets, have come to believe that if they can just add a few supplements they will make out all right in the end.
Few people get their full nutritional needs met through their diet simply because of their poor dietary choices. People don’t eat nutritionally, but rather they eat recreationally. People only want to eat what they crave at the time and in unhealthful amounts without regard for health or weight.
A blood test on your next doctor’s visit will reveal what deficiencies you might have, such as Vitamin D for example, so that you can supplement knowledgably and safely. But browsing the supplement aisle for the latest fad supplement to medicate yourself with is only falling for the Magic Pill Delusion that all pill peddlers profligate in order to separate you from your money.
People do NOT want to eat responsibly or nutritionally. People do not want to exercise. People do not want to take the time or effort to FIX or rehab themselves. So they delude themselves into thinking a pill, potion or other supplement will quickly counteract the damage they otherwise do to themselves through irresponsible eating, drinking and inhaling. There is no such thing as the Magic Pill and there never will be.
The Media is just as susceptible as you are to falling for bogus claims of manufacturers of supplements, so the Media is not a trusted source for supplement information.
Bodybuilder supps are by far the worst class of supplements as they are basically useless, relying on the Placebo Effect as demonstration of their efficacy. Many contain banned pharmaceuticals in the mix without listing them on the label—and they get away with it because the FDA is not regulating their products.
The ONLY bodybuilding supplements that have proven to both work and be healthful are QUALITY protein powders, and creatine. That’s all. You need a pre-workout supplement? Brew yourself some coffee. Your fitness/bodybuilding gurus on YouTube or Instagram are no different than any other salesmen—they do it for the money. They don’t know shit about supplements or pharmacology.
Finally, don’t touch ANYTHING from China. Not food. Not herbs. And certainly not Chinese Medicine. Don’t you be a mindless follower who throws caution, and your liver health, to the wind.

“Experts?” Not So Much, Says My Grandmother.
It is baffling when I see personal trainers at the gym who are at best, lacking in muscular development, and at worst, don’t even look like they work out. Baffling, because clueless people actually PAY MONEY to these people who promote themselves as experts. Would you hand over your life savings to some guy asking for spare change outside the 7-11 to invest for you? Would you hire a someone as a contractor to build an addition onto your house who lives in a cardboard box on skid row?
This here YouTube fella, claiming to be an expert on building and sculpting GLUTES, falls into this category. Look at the reflection of his backside in the mirror. Those are some pretty sorry-looking glutes! No shape. No size. And yet his chosen fitness brand is very narrowly focused, his claimed specialty being the building and sculpting of glutes. My unsolicited advice to this general class of YouTuber expert is, unless you yourself have proven you know what you're talking about via your own success at building and sculpting muscle, whether it be shoulders, arms, glutes, etc., you might want to lay low until you've proven your worth. Like my grandma used to say, "The proof is in the pudding."
Additionally then, we read all the positive, and even complimentary, comments below the video from people too stupid to ask, why isn’t this so-called “expert” on glutes sporting killer glutes for himself?
Another quote from grandma: "Those that can, do. Those who can’t, teach."

China Poisons Its Own People, So Why Should It Care About You?
Unless you're reading the small print on the packaged food you buy you have no idea what items are imported from China, the most extreme and “we don’t give a fuck” food-poisoner in the world.
More troubling, “Made In USA” or European countries foods might include ingredients imported from China - because they are cheaper, such as mushrooms - without listing these on the package. It’s all about profit.
I tried to find a video I viewed last year showing the vast numbers of people in China who live within a day’s train ride from Hong Kong who make the long journey there weekly just to buy their food staples because food in China proper is so terribly tainted, but I haven’t located it yet.
However, the video above gives a glimpse of the tragic state of affairs in China regarding an epidemic of tainted food.
It’s a joke to think they’ll be cutting back any time soon on polluting the air and oceans if they don’t even mind killing their own babies. Bribery in China is not just rampant, it's a primary engine powering the country's economy.

Depending On Others To Feed You Is A Very Bad Idea
Notice the average age of the people in this photo clamoring for SALAD, of all things.
This is one of the things that happens when you’re too (you can fill in the blank) to prepare your own food.
These same morons can’t go down the street and buy salad fixings to take home so they can pack a salad every day, at a third of the price?
Depending on others to feed you is stupid. Learn how to make a fucking sandwich for chrissakes.

Spotting Is For Idiots
Here’s a video that’s tagged as showing squat fails, but more of a standout are the morons who stand by to spot or “help” these narcissist “lifters.”
It’s bad enough these ego lifters set out to do what they do, but the mystery is the ease with which they can recruit even stupider people to put themselves in dire straits…and for what? It doesn’t take a genius to look at some of these situations and deduce the risk to the helper is overwhelming.
If you’re suckered/shamed into spotting for some entitled asshole, that’s all on you. Quite a few recent quadriplegics will probably agree with me.
